Tutorial - Create a multicolor printer profile for a digital press

Using CoPrA you are able to create printer profiles for your presses.

In this tutorial I create a 7 color printer profile (CMYKOGV) for my digital Indigo press. The measurement data is already obtained in ColorAnt, where I measured the printed test charts en modified the measurement data.

Launch CoPrA

Open the New Printer Profile panel

1. Click "New Printer Profile".

Load the measurement data

1. Drag and drop the measurement data "Indigo5600 7C.txt".

Customize the multicolor printer profile

1. Click "Customize".

Customize general options in the multicolor printer profile

1. Click "General".
2. In the Perceptual Rendering drop down list choose "Standard Compression".
3. Enter the chroma "0".
4. Click "Black Generation".

Customize the black generation in the multicolor printer profile

1. In the Multicolor Mode drop down list choose "Smooth".
2. In the Mode drop down list choose "MaxK".
3. Enter the Black Start "0".
4. In the Black Calculation drop down list choose "Auto".
5. Enter the TAC value "400".
6. Enter the Black TAC value "400".

Customize the black generation in the multicolor printer profile

1. Enter the TAC value "300".
2. Enter the Black TAC value "100".
3. Click "Save as...".

Save the multicolor printer profile setting

1. Enter the multicolor Printer Profile setting "Indigo 5600 - MutiColor - TAC300".
2. Click "OK".

Use the multicolor printer profile

1. In the setting drop down list choose "Indigo 5600 - MutiColor - TAC300".
2. Click "Next".

Save the multicolor printer profile

1. Change the name to "Indigo5600_CMYKOGV_TAC300.icc".
2. Enable the checkbox "Create Profile Report (PDF)".
3. Click "Save".

Analyze the saved multicolor printer profile

The multicolor printer profile "Indigo5600_CMYKOGV_TAC300.icc" is successful created in the ColorLogic shared folder (Users/Shared/ColorLogic).

Analyze the profile report

The profile report from the created printer profile opens automatic in your default PDF reader. The report contains colorants info, profile statistic tests, gamut curves, gamut volume table, gray balance curves, sample images, RGB conversion tests, hue samples, linearity curves and dot gain curves. The report is saved in the CoPrA "Reports" folder (User/Documents/CoPrA/Reports).
