iC3D iC3D

iC3D is the world’s first 3D real-time packaging simulation and design application to combine multiple packaging disciplines in one product. Other software applications frustratingly separate design applications into cartons, labels, flexibles, bottles, shrink or store visualisation. iC3D encompasses these and more, allowing all these elements to be seamlessly combined in the same scene.

Product information

In many packaging workflows, a range of product 'flavors' has to be developed. Whether crisps, jam, tins or baby food, the process starts with the creation of a 3D model with applied textures, artwork and subsequent iterative replacement of those textures and artwork to develop the many different flavors of the original design.

Iteration costs a lot of time and money and iC3D Automate, the latest product from Creative Edge Software, does away with it, completely. iC3D Automate uses the technology from iC3D and allows it to be integrated with any common production workflow, DAM solution or automation tool.

iC3D Automate will open an iC3D design file 'hands free' and run automated 'actions' on it, ranging from replacing textures or artwork, outputting high resolution images at specific camera angles, generating 3D PDF files and much more.

iC3D Automate can easily be integrated in your workflow, with total flexibility and can be configured to perform exactly the type of automation you require. This increases product development speed, reduces human errors during the visual development of product variations and can help to reduce time-to-shelf during product development.

Webinar - Distributed and remote rendering in Creative Edge's iC3D

With the distributed and remote rendering feature, you can use leftover processing capability from other computers on your network to help render the images faster.

Otherwise, even when using a strong computer with a good GPU to render images using the Ray Tracer in iC3D, it still may take longer than you'd like.

Webinar - What's new in iC3D 5?

Do you want to learn everything about how you can visualize virtually any packaging type as if you were holding it in your hand?

Well, iC3D just got even better and more powerful with the latest version.

On September 12, Tom Peire, CEO of Four Pees, held an English webinar to show you what's new in the latest version of iC3D.

Webinar - iC3D Automate

While creating 3D visualizations for packaging or label jobs is a creative process, ultimately there are a number of more administrative and repetitive tasks involved as well: clients want to see different views of each 3D model, multiple language or design variants need to be created from a model. These tasks can be done manually using iC3D, but they can also be automated using a new Creative Edge solution, called iC3D Automate.

This command-line tool can automate and standardize a whole range of time consuming tasks and can easily be integrated through scripting or using automation tools, such as FileTrain from Laidback Solutions.

Product video - iC3D Suite 4.0 show reel

Creative Edge Software presented iC3D Suite v4 at drupa 2016. As photorealism was previously the missing piece of the puzzle, five new features have been developed specifically to address this concern:

  1.  Ray Tracing accurately simulates effects of light on virtual objects for photorealistic, ultra-high-resolution, accurate photo studio effects.
  2.  3D Model Interiors enables realistic liquid filling, at any angle.
  3.  Light Map Editor re-creates studio lighting, editable highlights and shadows.
  4.  Dynamic Backgrounds real-time merging of 2D photo images with 3D designs.
  5.  Perspective Control matches 3D model perspective to 2D photo backgrounds.

How to upload large files to support?

Background

When sending problems to support or asking questions about a specific functionality, it is always helpful if you supply as much information as possible:

  • Profiles or Process Plans when working with pdfToolbox or pdfaPilot
  • Example documents 'before' and 'after' to explain the problem or question
  • Screenshots explaining the specific problem

When such files are over 2MB it is more reliable and quicker to send them to us through our Dropbox. This article describes how to do so.

Instructions

  1. First of all, please give your documents a unique name. If you already have a case ID (a 5-digit number), please include this case ID in the name of the file(s) you are going to send to us.
  2. Click this link to browse to our Dropbox upload page
  3. Click "Choose files from your computer" and navigate to the files
  4. If you are not logged into Dropbox, fill out your First and Last name and email address
  5. Click "Upload"

You will receive an email confirming your files were uploaded succesfully.
