We’re in luck! The PDF Days Europe can again take place as a physical event where callas software and Four Pees have no less than three speaker slots to give you all the ins and outs of everything PDF related.
The first Apple iPhone (1st generation), which was termed ‘revolutionary’ was released in 2007 with the slogan ‘Apple reinvents the phone’. While many of us are using Apple iPhones now, it is doubtful that anyone is using the 1st generation anymore.
2 years before the iPhone unveiling event, PDF/A-1 was released in the form of ISO 19005-1. We can all agree that in 2022, we have plenty of users converting their files to PDF/A-1, when there is clearly an option to convert to a ‘less demanding/limiting’ PDF/A version.
During this presentation, Akash Choudhary, Product Manager at callas software, will be giving you various practical reasons to make your PDF/A conversion easier.
The specifications of the Ghent Workgroup - built on top of the ISO PDF/X standards - are followed across the world and are built into a lot of major graphics arts applications. The Ghent Workgroup last released a major specification in 2015, which at that point included a shift from PDF/X-1a to PDF/X-4.
Earlier this year, the Ghent Workgroup released its GWG 2022 specification, so it is interesting to ask (and answer) the question: "What is the impact of these newly released specifications on your work?". How big of an adjustment will need to be made, and what benefits are brought by GWG 2022?
In this session, David van Driessche, Executive Director of the Ghent Workgroup and CTO of Four Pees, will dive into the GWG 2022 specifications, and examine its consequences for creatives, printers and software vendors.
PDF becomes more and more important in variable data print, an area that was long dominated by AFP. While AFP was designed for this application, PDFs application range is much wider. That raises the question what features of PDF should be used to address the high performance requirements specifically of variable data print.
The Print Product Metadata LWG of the PDF Association has published best practice guides for variable data print that are based on PDF/VT. These guides support developers of PDF creation and consumption products and their users.
In this session, Dietrich von Seggern, Managing Director at callas software, will introduce the best practice guides and provide further background.
