> 'Independence declaration for future print' By Bernd Zipper, CEO of Zipcon
Welcome to the future. Today. Now. Here. Artificial intelligence, e-commerce, social commerce, mass customization and the distant, wonderful world of virtual reality are here. Here. Now. What may be a threat to some people's business models is an almost inexhaustible pool of opportunities and possibilities for others - the agile, open and progressive print producer and media maker. Certainly, the print industry is changing, perhaps even very painfully, new business models are emerging and the use of print as a whole is changing. BerndZipper, CEO of zipcon consulting and Chairman of Initiative Online Print e.V., the pan-European association of online printers, talks about the "here" and "now" - and explains why current developments offer to print an incredible number of new opportunities and will make print less dependent on the need for large print runs, why print is becoming more sustainable and why print occupies a key position in a networked and connected world.

The Venue

Step into the historic charm of 'De Oude Vismijn' (The Old Fish Market), nestled at the confluence of the Lieve canal and the river Lys and facing the iconic Castle of the Counts of Flanders. Once a bustling marketplace for fishmongers during the late Middle Ages, this iconic venue has been transformed into a unique seminar and events space that seamlessly blends history with modern technology.

By Plane:
  • Arriving at Brussels Airport (BRU): Take a direct train from Brussels Airport to Ghent's main train station, Gent-Sint-Pieters. From there, you can opt for a tram or taxi to reach The Old Fish Market.
  • Arriving at Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL): Take a shuttle or train from Charleroi Airport to any train station in Brussels, and then proceed to Ghent.
By Train:

Ghent is well-connected by international train services. Gent-Sint-Pieters is the main train station, and from there, you can take a tram or taxi to The Old Fishmarket.

Once in Ghent:
  • Local Trams: Ghent has an extensive tram network. You can take local trams from various parts of the city to reach the venue. Check the local tram routes and schedules for the most convenient option.
  • City Center Exploration: Depending on your location within Ghent, consider exploring the city center on foot. The Old Fish Market is likely to be within a walkable distance from many central locations.

Parking

The nearest parking spaces are the 'Vrijdagsmarkt' and 'Sint Michiels'. Street parking is also possible but rates vary from zone to zone and many streets have parking spaces reserved for local residents.

Please note that Ghent city center has been designated as a low emission zone (LEZ) and that it has 5 car-free areas that together form the pedestrian zone. Make sure to register your car well in advance if needed.
