Traitement par ligne de commande
pdfaPilot CLI est une véritable application en ligne de commande, disponible sous Windows (32 et 64 bits), Linux (32 et 64 bits), Mac OS X, IBM AIX et Sun Solaris. Comme il est autosuffisant (il suffit de décompresser l'archive d'installation pour l'installer) et qu'il a été optimisé dans un but de vitesse et de fiabilité, il constitue le moteur de conversion en PDF/A idéal pour les portails Web, les systèmes de gestion documentaire ou les systèmes d'archivage automatiques.
Cette version en ligne de commande est en fait également le moteur sous-jacent de pdfaPilot Server. Autrement dit, si pdfaPilot Server est en cours d'exécution, vous avez aussi accès à toute la puissance de pdfaPilot CLI.
Prise en charge de PDF/A et large éventail de fonctionnalités PDF
pdfaPilot CLI prend évidemment en charge l'ensemble des standards PDF/A (ainsi que toute une série de standards PDF dérivés). Il peut vérifier la conformité à PDF/A ou conformer les fichiers entrants à la variante de PDF/A de votre choix. Comme pdfaPilot CLI peut générer des rapports hautement configurables au format PDF et XML, son intégration dans des processus davantage automatisés est un jeu d'enfant. À côté de la prise en charge de PDF/A, pdfaPilot CLI offre également un certain nombre de fonctionnalités relatives aux PDF :

Polyvalence dans l'usage
Bien qu'étant une application en ligne de commande, pdfaPilot CLI n'en est pas moins d'une flexibilité extrême. Primo, l'application en ligne de commande peut être lancée un grand nombre de fois en parallèle (8 fois pour une licence standard et sans limite de nombre pour la version illimitée du produit) pour effectuer le contrôle de conformité à PDF/A ou la conversion, ou pour exécuter la myriade d'actions de manipulation de PDF intégrées dans l'application.
PdfaPilot CLI peut toutefois aussi être lancé comme serveur de traitement de dossiers actifs, directement à partir de la ligne de commande. Il peut aussi être lancé sous licence de dispatcheur ou de satellite, de manière à participer à l'équilibrage de la charge entre plusieurs systèmes. Dans ces modes, il peut être configuré et contrôlé par un pdfaPilot Desktop exécuté en n'importe quel emplacement du réseau.
Environnements d'automatisation complexes
Le fait de pouvoir travailler avec pdfaPilot CLI dans les environnements où les besoins d'automatisation sont complexes ou bien où la haute disponibilité des ressources est cruciale, procure un certain nombre d'avantages par rapport au produit pdfaPilot Server normal.
pdfaPilot CLI peut être démarré comme satellite « typé ». Cette possibilité autorise la catégorisation des satellites connectés à un dispatcheur de manière à ce que les fichiers puissent être traités par le satellite le plus qualifié. La version en ligne de commande peut aussi servir à surveiller un pdfaPilot Server ou Dispatcher en cours d'exécution (pour s'assurer que tout en est ordre).
Dans les environnements cruciaux, pdfaPilot CLI peut être utilisé pour adresser automatiquement deux pdfaPilot Dispatcher de manière à offrir une garantie de résultats, même si l'un des dispatcheurs rencontre des difficultés.
