New solutions and practical presentations for PDF in the digital office
Berlin/Hannover, January 31 2017 - callas software, a leading provider of automatic PDF processing and archiving solutions, will be present as part of the digital Premier League at this year’s CeBIT in Hannover from March 20-24, 2017. The focal point of the company’s appearance at the show, in the Digital Office Area managed by Bitkom (hall 3, stand B17), will be the first reveal of pdfaPilot 7. Other highlights will include updates to pdfToolbox and pdfChip, as well as the introduction of pdfaPilot as a web service: the Actino DPS solution by partner Actino Software.
pdfaPilot allows users to convert PDFs or native-format documents and e-mails into stable, searchable PDF or PDF/A files for long-term archiving. The switchboard in the new Version 7 enables automated, flexible placement of any type of content – including barcodes, images, logos and stamps – without requiring any programming knowledge. Typical applications include continuous numbering of multi-page documents, stamping documents on receipt, watermarking test prints, adding print management barcodes or classifying documents for storage within an enterprise content management system. The solution also allows users to insert new pages and supports templates for cover or separator sheets. With Version 7 of the pdfaPilot, callas software has also underscored the importance of standards, as the new version is already fully compatible with the veraPDF project currently being promoted by the European Union.
pdfToolbox Version 9.2 offers a range of in-depth improvements to variables and other features to enable powerful, dynamic and easy-to-integrate PDF processing. The software now also offers improved options for analyzing embedded fonts and making libraries searchable.
pdfChip is a command line tool for converting HTML files into high-quality PDFs which is particularly well suited to high-volume dynamic PDF generation. The new Version 1.3 improves positioning accuracy, achieving a much higher level of precision when designing templates than can usually be achieved with HTML.
Visitors to CeBIT will be able to see pdfaPilot in action in a web or cloud service environment for the very first time, thanks to Actino Software (a callas partner which will also be present at the callas software stand). The solution, named Document Processing Services (DPS), is designed for businesses looking to enable professional-level editing of PDF documents for their employees without having to acquire individual licenses for each separate workstation. This high-performance solution is easy to use: users simply drag their documents onto a button assigned to a specific function, which may be converting an Office file to PDF or testing a PDF/A file. Even PDF/UA (universal accessibility) files can be validated in this way. The document is handed over to the server for processing and the result is provided in the form of a download link.
callas software will also help to enrich Bitkom’s program on the Digital Office Stage (hall 3, stand B06). On March 22 at 4:00 PM, Dietrich von Seggern, Managing Director of callas software, will discuss the role that PDF plays in the digital office. On March 23 at 12:30 PM, users will learn how to achieve "E-mails and Office files forever".
Interested parties can arrange an appointment for a product demonstration and request free entry tickets to the show here.
Those interested in exploring the subject of PDF in greater depth are invited to the second PDF Camp ahead of CeBIT. On March 13 and 14, technically versed users can visit the Pfefferwerk center in Berlin to further develop a grounded understanding of the PDF format and callas’ products.
More information about the PDF Camp can be found here.
