OEM customers enable rise in sales for callas/product sales through partners also grow

Berlin, December 21, 2016 - callas software, a leader in the fields of automatic PDF processing and archiving solutions, is reporting excellent growth in sales for 2016. OEM customers in particular contributed to an unexpected rise of almost 25% in document processes and archiving, and around 10% in the print and publishing sector. Sales through partners and distributors also boosted turnover.

New version of pdfToolbox strikes a chord with users

pdfToolbox has long been one of the leading print and publishing applications worldwide. This year callas released a key update in the form of version 9, which offers a significantly increased range of options for the use of variables. Additional entirely new functions primarily address the labeling and packaging market as well as large-format printing. "Over the last few years we have expanded pdfToolbox from a validation and correction tool into a powerful complete solution for all aspects of print job preparation", said Dietrich von Seggern, who was brought into a leadership role at callas software in April 2016. Version 9.1, released in autumn 2016, further expands the software’s functionality, supporting the Processing Steps standard, including a new version of the Adobe PDF library, adding new silhouette technology, and more. Thanks to its OEM customers, callas software achieved a 10% increase in sales for its pdfToolbox software.

Archiving department grows significantly at callas

pdfaPilot is one of the world’s best known document conversion and validation applications. A wide range of software houses use the pdfaPilot’s SDK to integrate PDF/A document creation and validation functionality into their own applications or to convert Office or other documents to PDF format. A key argument in favor of the pdfaPilot, aside from its high stability and broad functionality, is that it uses the same PDF/A technology as that used by Adobe for Acrobat. OEM customers also include other key players, such as d.velop, Foxit and SER. "This year we were able to increase our OEM business by 23% thanks to pdfaPilot", reported von Seggern. "This allowed the department to almost match our print and publishing department’s figures."

Product sales also rise

The latest product released by callas software is pdfChip, an extremely high-performance tool which relies on web technology to create high-quality PDF documents. Version 1.2, available since autumn, focuses on simplifying dynamic sampling options for individualized PDF files, as well as improvements to barcode and SVG processing.

callas offers all of its products worldwide through a range of partners and distributors, through whom it has achieved a 7% boost. In total sales through partners represent around a third of overall turnover.

"We are naturally very pleased by this positive development", said Dietrich von Seggern. "Our presence at drupa and the PDF Days, as well as our own events, such as our VIP partner event and the PDF Camp have also undoubtedly contributed to our success."
