Dankzij deze toepassing kan je op doeltreffende manier via je webportaal PDF-bestanden voor drukwerk voorbereiden of bewerken, de interne productie automatiseren, documenten beheren ... callas pdfToolbox CLI biedt een groot aantal opdrachten voor preflightfuncties, het corrigeren, converteren en opmaken van documenten en nog veel meer!

Command-line verwerking

pdfToolbox CLI is een volwaardige command-line toepassing, die beschikbaar is voor Windows (32- en 64-bits), Linux (32- en 64-bits), Mac OS X, IBM AIX en Sun Solaris. pdfToolbox CLI is volledig zelfvoorzienend: de installatie is gewoon een kwestie van het uitpakken van het installatiepakket. Bovendien is het geoptimaliseerd voor snelheid en betrouwbaarheid. Het is dan ook de ideale engine voor PDF-kwaliteitscontrole en -bewerking voor webportalen, interne productieautomatisering of DMS-systemen (Document Management System).

Interessant om te weten is dat deze command-line versie van pdfToolbox dezelfde engine heeft als pdfToolbox Server. Met andere woorden: als je pdfToolbox Server hebt draaien, heb je ook toegang tot alle verwerkingskracht van pdfToolbox CLI.

Kwaliteitscontrole en PDF-bewerking

Het spreekt voor zich dat pdfToolbox CLI eender welk pdfToolbox Desktop preflightprofiel kan toepassen op PDF-bestanden. Tijdens dat proces biedt het een aantal configureerbare opties en kan het een willekeurig aantal preflightrapporten genereren. Dat maakt het bijvoorbeeld mogelijk om een preflight uit te voeren en op basis van die ene preflightcontrole niet alleen een PDF-rapport met annotaties te genereren maar ook een aanpasbaar PDF-rapport op basis van een HTML-sjabloon en een XML-rapport met informatie die kan worden verwerkt door een geautomatiseerd proces verder in de workflow.

Behalve preflightprofielen biedt pdfToolbox CLI ook een lange lijst van specifieke PDF-acties, die specifieke PDF-bestandsverwerking uitvoeren. Denk daarbij bijvoorbeeld aan:

Veelzijdig inzetbaar

pdfToolbox CLI mag dan een command-line toepassing zijn, het blinkt uit in flexibiliteit. Eerst en vooral biedt de command-line toepassing het voordeel dat deze meerdere keren tegelijk kan worden gestart: 8 keer met een standaardlicentie of zelfs een onbeperkt aantal keer met de onbeperkte versie van het product. Dat maakt parallelle verwerking van bestanden mogelijk om de kwaliteit ervan te controleren, deze te herstellen via preflightprofielen of een van de talloze PDF-bewerkingsacties erop toe te passen die ingebouwd zijn in de toepassing.

Daarnaast kan pdfToolbox CLI ook rechtstreeks vanaf de command-line worden gestart als een server voor hot folder-verwerking (verwerking via actieve mappen), of het kan worden gestart met een Dispatcher licentie om via het principe van dispatcher en satellites load balancing toe te passen voor gedistribueerde verwerking over meerdere systemen. Het kan in die modi vanaf eender welke locatie in het netwerk worden geconfigureerd en gecontroleerd via pdfToolbox Desktop.

Hoge beschikbaarheid en load balancing

Vergeleken met het pdfToolbox Server product, biedt pdfToolbox CLI een aantal onderscheidende voordelen voor omgevingen die complexe automatiseringsbehoeften hebben of waar hoge beschikbaarheid van de middelen van cruciaal belang is.

Zo kan pdfToolbox CLI worden gestart als een “typed” satellite. Dit principe van categorisering van satellites die verbonden zijn met een dispatcher, maakt het mogelijk om bestanden op de meest geschikte satellite te verwerken. De command-line versie kan ook worden gebruikt om een actieve pdfToolbox Server of Dispatcher in de gaten te houden. Dat zorgt ervoor dat alles goed blijft functioneren.

In bedrijfskritische omgevingen kan pdfToolbox CLI worden ingezet om automatisch twee verschillende pdfToolbox Dispatchers te adresseren voor gegarandeerde resultaten mocht een van de dispatchers moeilijkheden ondervinden.
