For fifteen years, Intervlag has specialized in producing flags. The company focuses entirely on resellers and deliberately operates in the background. From online printers to shop fitters, anyone selling flags can rely on Intervlag for custom production.
What sets Intervlag apart is its constant drive for process optimization. Co-owner Ron Beute explains: “Since day one, we’ve been looking for ways to make processes more efficient and effective - for ourselves and for our customers.”
Until recently, submitting files was cumbersome. Customers emailed their files, after which a DTP operator had to check them and prepare a proof. This caused unnecessary delays. “The system we had was simply too slow,” says Beute. “Often, there were minutes or even hours between uploading a file and receiving a proof. And there were too many manual steps. We wanted to eliminate those.”
This wasn’t just frustrating for Intervlag; it was especially frustrating for customers. “Our customers are in a hurry. Sometimes they’re literally standing on a scaffold installing a project. They want immediate certainty: Is my file correct or not? If they can see that right away, they can finish and move on. That makes a world of difference for them.”
Together with Four Pees, a completely new portal was developed. This upload portal is integrated into Intervlag’s website and combines:
Beute summarizes the key benefit: “What’s really important for us is that customers upload a file and see the result within seconds. That’s the biggest gain we’ve made.”
Michael van den Bos, responsible for customer relations and CRM at Intervlag, noticed the commercial impact: “Previously everything went via email and we had to check files manually. Now customers can upload, check, and approve their files themselves. Within 20 seconds they have a proof. That not only saves a huge amount of time, it also frees them from our working hours.”
Customers appreciate both the speed and the flexibility. They can upload files anytime - even in the evening - and instantly approve their proof. This saves time in their own processes and creates a more professional ordering experience.
Van den Bos adds: “We’re even seeing customers who want to implement this tool on their own websites because it offers real added value for their end customers.”
The new workflow also brought major internal improvements. Fewer manual checks mean fewer DTP operators are needed for order processing.
Van den Bos explains: “Where previously a whole team handled order processing, we now do it with just a handful of people. We use the freed-up time for customer relationship management and attracting new clients. Efficiency has truly been the key word for us.”
The production department also feels the impact. Tim Bouwman, print coordinator at Intervlag, says: “In the past even a simple flag had to be assembled manually. Together with Four Pees we simplified everything down to basic structures and routes. As a result, the entire process is much more streamlined and automated. For me that means more oversight, less chaos, and better planning.”
One of the most striking benefits of this project is the extra time now available for customer contact.
Beute emphasizes: “By eliminating unnecessary clicks, we have more time for what truly matters; our customers. Building and maintaining relationships has always been our priority. Thanks to this workflow, we now have more room for that.”
